Topic: THE QURAN & ASTRONOMY... ALLAH Say in Quran "when the moon is buried in darkness,&, the sun & the moon are joined together" (sura Quyamah) The above verse of the quran depicts the scenario of the doomsday. when all the present laws of our solar system will be shattered. According to this verse we are told that the gravitation pull of the earth & moon will b gone & that the moon will be caught by the sun. It is great & highly magnificient information provided to mankind by ALLAH about 1400 years ago, of which man knew nothing up-till recently. Now, let's see what astronomy has to say about it. "Moon is our nearest neghbour, only 384,000 kms away. Its pull regulates the sea tides, thus helping marine life for us. Capture Hypothesis (1955) suggests that the moon was born about 5 billion years ago. The orbit of moon is now opening up at the rate of 3cm per year. If it goes like this eventually earth will not be able to hold its moon, & ten it may fall into sun. At the current rate of 3cm per annum drift, it can happen in about 5 billion years from now, but due to some external causes this may occur much earlier" Now just ponder upon these line an event described, in fact predicted by the HOLY QURAN several centuries before, the scientific speculations of today is found not only to be correct but even the details about it are presented. The Quran also say that the sun is not stationary but moves. But a few decades back when the modern conept of movement of sun was not comprehended by the astronomists, they use to ridicule the verses of Quran. But now by the grace of ALLAH , they have been compelled to accept a scientific truth, that research has now revealed. So make it a point that our understanding & experiment can be wrong but ALLAH'S words are faultless as he has knowledge of everything hidden or open. May ALLAH help us to trend right path! (Aameen)
